About Us

Our Story

The Morris Hills & Morris Knolls FIRST Robotics Competition team — born from a first-place win, united by the Hussar spirit.

Team History

How the Winged Hussars came to be.

FRC Team 11605 — the Winged Hussars — is the FIRST Robotics Competition team of the Morris Hills Regional District, uniting students from Morris Hills High School and Morris Knolls High School. Inspired by the legendary Polish winged cavalry known for their bold, decisive charges, our team embodies courage, precision, and teamwork in everything we build.

We formed out of a trial season hosted by Mount Olive High School. Competing with the Mount Olive Robotics team as MORT Gamma (Team 430), our founding members secured first place at a district event — and on the strength of that win, we officially launched as Team 11605 for our inaugural year.

This year we are hosted and sponsored by MORT Gamma, an outreach service from the Mount Olive Robotics teams dedicated to expanding STEM education by introducing new schools to FRC. In our inaugural year, we aim to create an environment that supports students interested in STEM — helping them gain the knowledge and confidence to become future leaders.

Our Vision

“The Winged Hussars want to bring more STEM opportunities to MHRD students. We want to join the two schools together for something that will create close bonds and fond memories.”
